The latest CSD is number 12. CSD05 is very very old now. So, quite apart from the question of whether it is "supported", it really isn't the best strategy to plan on running 2 (??) year old code. |

actually in my scenario I have a MQ on Box1 which is installed with MQ V 5.3 and fixpack csd05.Now I have to the make distribution communication with the BOX1 from BOX2 which is win 2003SE.So is it necessary to apply the same fixpack csd05 on Box2 also Or can i apply the new versions fixpacks. _________________ Thanks in Advance

Theoretically CSD12 systems will talk perfectly well to CSD05 systems. The intention of MQ development and service processes is to make this reliable. I would be very surprised if you see problems with server-bound apps or normal (non-client) channels between the two machines, but note that with MQ 5.3 there have been problems when running clients downlevel compared to the server. This has been discussed a lot on this forum.
In general, you run less of a risk if you go to the latest patch level on both systems.
It makes sense : keep up to date with fixes. |

I've been running CSD11 quite happily on W2K3 since October. I'll be going to CSD12 soon.
MQ is very forgiving of having not just different patch levels, but also different versions, running in the same enterprise. One of the many reasons I love this product.
