Hi,
Is it possible when installing MQWorkflow to use an existing Queue Manager. By using the Configuration Utility it always tries to create a Queue Manager even though you specified an existing Queue Manager. Do you have to use the fmczutil command.
Thanks in advance [/code] |

You can use an existing QM, but workflow will alter it.

Browneki,
You can use a defined queue manager. However doing so resulted every time in an error: "SYSTEM.DEF.CLNT.CONN does not exist" if I remember well. When I checked my qmgr, it was there. I ran the file with MQ definitions separately and that went fine. When I used fmczutil again, runmqsc returned 10 again.
As it was a customer system and I didn't have time to sort everything out, I just ran the saveqmgr support pack, let fmczutil create its queue manager so it was able to continue after applying its qmgr definitions and then reloaded my saveqmgr definitions. Don't forget to adapt services and inetd.conf if you don't like the default port.
PS1: I'm talking AIX here.
PS2: saveqmgr support pack can be found here:

Good luck,

Hello,
We had a discussion with IBM support on this issue. Their answer was NO. You can use existing QM, but only if it was created by WF before. If you create it manually IBM will not support this and you can get some troubles with it (as we did). |

Also remember to have the admin user ID to start MQM. Currently, I assisted one client with their MQWF installation and configuration on AIX...1) first they insisted to create a QM without MQWF due to security concern, but it resulted in "cant written to qm.ini, or some values in qm.ini is not set"....then finally, they are convincted to have MQWF created a QM due to management pressure, but started the QM with user ID mqm, still got errors, ....But after we strmqm with fmc user ID, it worked..... |

Hi,
Thanks for all the help so far. At the moment I have configured the MQWorkflow using an existing queue manager. Before running the fmczutil I stopped the Queue Manager. When the utility prompts you to create the new queue manager I pressed and the program was able to recognise that the Queue Manager was already there so it starts the queue manager and creates the MQWorkflow queues.
Many thanks again
