Just for your information (and question, if anbody got the same problem).
I installed WMQ 6.0 on Solaris and AIX - both worked fine .
Then I installed the refresh pack 6.0.1.0 - worked fine on AIX but I got problems on Solaris . The problem was that the "checkinstall" script trys to run the program "amqiclen" and failed. I found, that the checkinstall script runs as user "nobody" and this user has no MQ permissions (but execute permissions of the program "amqiclen" itself) .
My solution was, to remove the execute permission for "others" on "amqiclen" . Now the checkinstall script does no longer try to start "amqiclen" because it checks the execution permission first . _________________ Regards

Or you could create a user named "install" and make it a member of the mqm group: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21121500
I wonder if this will get fixed for future CSDs? |

Thanks for the hint, this should work too. Otherwise I do not see any sense, to have the program "amqiclen" to be executable by "others". Administrators, who need to run this program should either be members of the mqm group or switch to user "mqm" (e. g. using "sudo"). _________________ Regards

I have it always be executed manually before any upgrade so that the memory is clean. I found out that some previous fixpack messed up on solaris because the memory was not clean... We had to reboot the box!
Shut down all qmgrs on the box...
Run amqiclen manually in its various forms (qipot, s)
Check no monitoring is running
Check ipcs and ipcrm
Ready for upgrade....
Enjoy _________________ MQ & Broker admin |
