In 3-tier:
There are 3 machines
Machine1: Database
Machine2: Workflow Server
Machine3: Workflow client

1 and 2 communicate using DB client
2 and 3 communicate using MQ Client or MQ Server

No offense meant here. Just a good suggestion.

If you are in India, there is a good book published in 2003 I believe which talks about MQWF Architecture. It has all the good stuff that you want to know. And did you try to read the "Concepts and Architecture" guide and other 5 essentials that John always posts here for wannabe WF certifieds? Those will be the best places to find answers to all your architecture/config related questions.

Good Luck.
