Hi,

I have recently installed the MQ explorer V6 on its own and am trying to view remote queue managers which were created using MQ 5.3 CSD 9.

I have no problem viewing them if i am a member of mqm on the remote machine. However if i am not i am unable to view them.

For Unix boxes i can connect to the QM but it will not show the individual queues, the status bar at the bottom keeps moving as if it is in the process of loading the information.

I cannot even connect to QM on windows platforms.

Prior to this i had no problems (ie when using MQ Explore 5.3) I had the minimum OAM permissions granted ie

QM - dsp, connect and inq
SYSTEM.DEFAULT.MODEL.QUEUE - +browse +inq +get
SYSTEM.ADMIN.COMMAND.QUEUE - +inq +put

On the NT queue manager the following error is given

Explorer cannot administer the queue manager because the user is not authorised to open the queue SYSTEM.MQEXPLORER.REPLY.MODEL.

I have given +all authority to the user for this queue and refreshed security but this error keeps coming.

Am i missing something? Do i need to grant any extra permssions???

Thanks,

Hi,

I resolved the issues which stopped me connecting to a remote Q manager via MQ 6 toolkit. However this has confused me even further.

It seems that the domain information is not being passed to the target queue manager. Originally i had granted authority(using OAM) for username@AD to connect to the QM and view the queues. This did not allow me to connect to the QM as explained below. However it turns out that MQ was trying to validate "username" not username@AD.

As soon as i granted access to the username with no domain the issue was resolved. I can't see any documentation that states that the domain will not be passed across a network.

Has anyone else encountered this. It also explains why i was able to connect to a UNIX qmanager but not the NT one.

Regarding the unix qm i still have issues viewing the queues. I can see the channels but can only see the queues i select "Status" when right clicking on the Queues folder.

Any help or pointers would be great!

thanks

If you were not a member of mqm in 5.3 you could grant authorities to each view queue on an individual basis.
I have granted authority to view each of the queues i want to see. This was never a problem in version 5.3. I have +dsp and +browse on the queues plus the extra authorities on the system queues.

The filter option does not seem to be available for my remote queue managers.

The non showing of queues is only an issue on the UNIX server. The NT QM i can see without any problem , although i still can't see why the username is being validated and not the username@domain as was was the case in 5.3

I had already added the SYSTEM.MQEXPLORER.REPLY.MODEL queue and granted sufficient authority on it.

Hi,

Sorry if i gave the impression of dismissing your answer, that was not my intention.

However i am not sure why, with the same authorities, i could view the queues using MQ Explorer 5.3 and not MQ Explorer 6.
You say thay this is because i have no access to SYSTEM.AUTH.DATA.QUEUE, which is true, but this was also the case when i was viewing the QM with explorer 5.3, and i had none of these issues then.

If anyone could help me out with this issue that would be great.

Also if anyone could shed light on why MQ seems to be no longer validatin my domain user that would be really helpful.

Thanks,

Lanny Boy
