I have an interest in SSL securing some MQ client channels to a MQ 5.3 queue manager on z/OS 2.10 from a Windows 2003 platform (running MQ client 5.3)
Now I know I should read the manuals, blah, blah - but would appreciate a basic bullet point idiots guide to where to start.
Are we talking RACF managing SSL certificates? Our RACF system has not been used as a certificate issing authority before so is this a big job?
How much work is involved? Will I need a brain upgrade?

I remember looking into the z/OS manuals for MQ when this thread was posted.
From what I read in the docs, enabling SSL on the mainframe is as straight forward as everything else on the mainframe is. That may not be very straight forward, but if you're used to it I'm sure it's not a big deal. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

you may also want to check the supportpac MO04: WebSphere MQ SSL Wizard. i creates an action list (command list) for every component and plattform involved to enable ssl. and it only takes a few minutes. _________________ Regards, Butcher |

Hi zpat,
It wont be a tiresome process of setting up SSL environment using RACF. Once I configured SSL environment for Telnet connection using RACF. 3 possible ways of creating SSL Certificate are,
1) RACDCERT Command (TSO)
2) gskkyman Utility (OMVS Command)
3) RACF Panels
It requires in-depth knowledge in SSL protocols and Digital Certificates. All the best ..
