hi, everyone

i am closing project and have some question.

first

why does remote agent try to connect to CORBA name server. when i set
ORB_PORT, ORB_HOST, ORB_PROPERTY to ICS host than all right, but when i dont, it write mistake (i think that remote agent must not use this service):

hi russian gangsta.. you've a cryptic way of posting questions. from the few words I could grasp from your query:- Persistent nameserver & transient nameserver are IBM's answer to Visibroker smart agent. They act as naming repository for CORBA references of the connectors & other components and are used to locate other processes. In the remote agent you need to specify the location of ORB host name (usually is run on same host as ICS server). This helps the agent to Lookup the server process from the ORB nameserver and then use the reference to connect to it. If you mistype the ORB nameserver location, I believe the agent will never find its contact.

Hi
I understand role of ORB name server, but i dont understand what for remote agent need use it. remote agent have configuration file and receive object information across MQ (local agent use name server for look ICS). ICS reveive information also across MQ. and if remote agent operate with ICS across Inet, i need open ORB port for this operation. i think it is not right.

Aah... now I get your question and I strong agree that while using MQ as you delivery transport, IIOP should remain out of the league .
Unfortunately, the ICS needs either IIOP or JMS to exchange administrative messages between the controller and agent/remote agent. So you can choose to totally eliminate IIOP by choosing JMS or end up using MQ with IIOP for admin activities ( counting IDL out !).
