Funny problem I'm encountering here... I have created a new broker and tied it with a Q-Manager. Then I deleted it. But when I issue the mqsilist command, the broker is still there. It's no longer visible in Windows Services, though.

So I try to delete it again but it says component doesn't exist. Next I try to create another broker but it says the Q-Manager is already tied to a broker.

There is absolutely no broker at all in Windows Services but there is a broker in mqsilist. However, this broker cannot be deleted as it doesn't exist!

What gives?

The I deleted it part has me concerned. Did you go through the full process of deleting it in the ConfiMgr, deploying that, getting a successful return, and then delete the broker?

If not, then you might be picking up some definitions from the ConfiMgr.

Just a shot in the dark. Anyone have any other shots?

I would go one step further and restart the machine after deleting the broker.

I have not tied the ConfigMgr with the broker yet. I just created the broker and deleted it. Not sure whether I did it clean though, I just issued the mqsideletebroker command. Anything I missed out?

Yes, I've restarted the machine after deleting it, but it does not affect anything.. mqsilist still gives me a broker which is supposed to be deleted!

From WMQI Manual:

Use the mqsilist command to list all of the components installed on this system, all the execution groups defined to a specific broker, or all the message flows contained in a named execution group on a named broker.

What is the command you are trying to run?
mqsilist or mqsilist brokername?

Just mqsilist. Anyway, fixed the problem. I manually delete off the broker in the Windows registry...

How would you delete it from unix. We have teh same problem as above. mqsilist shows the broker as existing but the broker database is empty.

Did you link the Broker to the Config Mgr ?

Why dont you delete the Queue Manager and create it again.

Check the system queues in the Config Mgr, there might be some messages on its queue which are causing the problem.

what does mqsilist and a grep on the Broker return ?

Regards.

It's more simpler than on Windows, just jump into the /var/mqsi/registry directory (or $MQSI_REGISTRY/registry if this variable exists). Here are the broker and UNS settings what you can delete, carefully .

Recommend chapter in the manual: Backing up recources.
