http://www-306.ibm.com/software/integration/wbimessagebroker/v6/faqs.html

In the FAQ for WBIMB v6.0, it is written that broker can read/write data directly from file system

Quote:
In addition to these methods, WebSphere Message Broker supports input using HTTP calls, SOAP messaging, as well as real-time transports, and the ability to read and write data directly from files in the file system.

Is there a new node in v6 for File System Input/Output?

or is it still via the File Extender v.5 ?http://www-306.ibm.com/common/ssi/fcgi-bin/ssialias?subtype=ca&infotype=an&appname=iSource&supplier=897&letternum=ENUS205-127
Is File Extender sold as a seperate product?

Support for sequentail file i/o in the distributed brokers will continue to be provided by the "File Extender Nodes" available for seperate purchase.

Well, you can use a JCN for the "O"utput part, but you'd need to write your own plugin if you want to drive the flow from the "I"nput part....

and, since you can write a input plugin for just about anything, that doesn't count in giving the answer....

The quote didn't mention anything about driving flows from files. It merely said "read and write directly from files".

So it seems that having access to java.io from a JCN meets the minimum criteria.

Particularly with the new SHARED variables, one can now very easily implement a real properties file and cache data until the file mod time changes.

File extender is sold as a sep. product. It currently supports MB V5. Support will be available shortly for MB V6.

That stinks. It certainly wasn't advertised that way in the pre-release and release documents.
