I am currently dealing with migrating some NT4 servers onto Win2k3, but have found out that MQ Series v5.0 is flaky, doesn't connect to queue managers, etc.

Does anyone know how I can get this working on Win2k ? I don't really want to splash out on getting v5.3 yet, at least until I have explored some ways to sort this problem out.
In Win2k I get an unexpected error everytime I try to create a Queue Manager.

5.0, really ?

At a minimum you should be implementing v5.3, and consider going to v6.0. Surely you'd be better off with a supported version of the software. The version your attempting to implement has been out of support for a very long time.

I'll probably regret this, but what's the unexpected error ?

The error is AMQXXXXXX, unexpected error (2195)

Sorry I can't remember the full AMQ error, but on Win2k3 I managed to at least get past the first hurdle and actually create a Queue Manager.

Not sure exactly why you're reluctant to install one of the supported MQ versions, but it wouldn't surprise me if you encounter a number of other 'unexpected errors' during your journey.

You'll have to look in your ~mqm/errors directory to find the FFST's that are being generated as a result of this issue and I do have to echo the recommendations earlier to upgrade to MQSeries5.3 or 6.

I understand what you are saying and it makes perfect sense, however, there must be a way to get it working on Win2k. Do you think it is really worth it ??

There might not be a way to get it working.

It is possible that the Windows API and the dlls have changed sufficiently that you can't get this to run properly.

Your best bet is to start with the most recently available FP/CSD of 5.0. (which presumably is the last one there is).

I can't think of a specific thing that could keep it from working, but I would be greatly surprised if v5.0 would work on Win2K. It is definitely time to move forward (to at least v5.3).
