Hi there,

BTW I've run MQ on Slackware before without any problems. But, it was only a test environment.

Who have you installed it ? As WMQ is furnished as RPM files and as Slackware uses pkg files, how did you install WMQ ?
Did you rpm2tgz'ed the files ? Or have you installed rpm to use the original files ? _________________ Alain Buret

Hi,
I can't comment on WAS because I don't use it but I have various Linux with MQ installed on them.
- MQ v5.3 on Red Hat v7.3 on x86 (PII 350)
- MQ v5.3 on Red Hat v8.0 on x86 (PII 350)
- MQ v6.0 on Fedora Core 3 on x86 (dual Celeron 433)
- MQ v6.0 on SLES9 Linux on POWER (iSeries).
These all work properly after installing MQ. i.e. no special environment variables, etc..

Roger, I think all those distros use RPM (I guess I'm not positive abotu SLES9).
WAS doesn't use RPM at all, it uses a crossplatform java installer... it should run just fine on most any linux distro... But only the supported distros are guaranteed to work. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Just because it doesn't use RPMs, doesn't mean it doesnt come with the rpm program. Manually check the dependencies, and then use rpm with --nodeps.
There is also a program to convert rpm to tgz, but I haven't tried that.
