I wonder if all of the things you need to do to get a quick beginning on windows would be in the handy form of a manual? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

hi
Nice to see u'r reply.I need some info. we r going to instal 2 mqservers on 2 different systems and each mqserver contain 2 queue managers with same names ans same settings.
and both systems run simultaniously but only one queue manger is running in each system , on failover we are running both Queuemangers on another system. Is this sounds good are have any prob, and one more question we are manully wrintg log files on another sys related to quemanager so that we are not loose any data.
As per Reqirement we have to run one queue manager on one server on failover only we have to run 2 queMnagers.
Is isright that each Queue manger had seperate log file.
I need ur valuble suggestation. |

If you are interested in failover, check out the section on high availability in the system administration manual. |

You could have your Qmgr running on one server, and then when that server goes down you could manually start the backup Qmgr on the other server.
BUT - this is not failover. There are many issues that you would have to take into consideration. Here are but a few:
1 - Channel sequence numbers
2 - Remote Qmgrs *might* have to change the Connection Name in the sender channels to point to the new server (unless you change the IP address in your DNS or something like that)
3 - What about the data that was on the Qmgr when it went down?
Just remember that having a backup Qmgr is not the same as a failover solution. |

I'd suggest taking a look at the Systems Administration manual. I think that Chapter 13 has the information that you are looking for. |

It seems like you are a new MQ administrator.
You need to spend a LOT of time reading the manuals. We are not going to provide a free training course on how to be an MQ administrator.
You should strongly consider getting training - by paying for a course.
All the steps for doing things with MQ are documented in the manuals. One of the best skills you can learn for being an MQ administrator is learning how to find things in the manuals. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Sounds like a good time to really get into the manuals and really understand what MQ is all about and how to use it. |
