Hi all,
Has someone managed the MQ 6.0 installation on Debian 3.1?
I know that Debian is not supported by IBM but we have running MQ 5.3
on it, so I wonder why MQ 6 should not work.
The installation on Debian is done via alien, which repackage the RPMs
and install ist.
Installation was working without errors
I installed first the Runtime and then Server, then some other stuff like the samples etc.
The LD_ASSUME_KERNEL was set and Kernel Parameters are OK.
But when trying to create a QMgr i get the following error:
AMQ8101: WebSphere MQ error (893) has occurred.
No FDC is created.....
The /opt/mqm directory looks good and is accessable, but I wonder the /var/mqm is empty.
Even no mqs.ini does exist here.
I am not sure if the files in /var/mqm will be created just after creating the first QMgr.

Has someone any recommendation, or should I ask my chief to give me money for the Enterprise versions from Suse/RedHat? |

Yeah looks like
Found in the syslog a complain about:
Code: |
MQSeries: FFST (23,207,3,536895769) failed: /var/mqm/errors/AMQ780.0.FDC (errno=2)
|
After created the errors directory a FDC was written.
When looking to the FDC:
Code: |
Probe Description :- AMQ6119: An internal WebSphere MQ error has occurred |
| ('2 - No such file or directory' from Open CCSID.TBL.) |
| FDCSequenceNumber :- 0 |
| Arith1 :- 2 2 |
| Comment1 :- '2 - No such file or directory' from Open CCSID.TBL.
|
So it looks like that the installation was not done properly and alien not repackaged the rpms corretly.
Hmm what a pity, I prefer Debian distributions |

A colleague did get MQ v6 running on a debian-derived distro last week, but he had similar problems. Basically, alien did not get any of the post-install scripts executed, and he did it all by hand. (Creating and populating /var/mqm etc.)
Once installed, it seemed to work fine. Obviously not supported, but that's your choice. |

We successfully installed WMQ on Debian with RPM - of course you have to use the switch --nodeps. This is not too elegant but works.

There a several post install scripts that are run by the various rpm's you will need to ensure that these are also extracted from the rpm (is there something like a -script option on alient??) and run. _________________ --

Today I get some time to get back to the server, installed rpm and installed
the MQ 6.0 with --nodeps, everything is working as expected.
I assume that it will probably work also with alien using -c --script option, I will check it next time. |
