MQSeries is being renamed to ESB (enterprise service bus) part of WebSphere now. _________________ WebSphere Application Server 7.0 z/OS &

So it that WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus or just Enterprise Service Bus.
Got a link to the story? _________________ Yes, I am an agent of Satan but my duties are largely ceremonial. |

I don't have a link, but I don't believe this is quite true. However, MQSeries is being renamed to WebSphere MQ.
That happened a couple years ago didn't it? |

WebSphere MQ is a transport.
ESB is, according to IBM (from what I've seen, maybe javagate has newer information that he/she didn't link to...),
a) an architectural pattern that includes both a transport and a set of schemas and patterns on top of that transport that allow for the implementation of a Service Oriented Architecture... It seems clear that an SOA would need an Enterprise Service Bus to build a proper SOA enterprise...
b) contradicting their earlier statements about ESB the design pattern - ESB is a product. It includes a transport layer, that I believe is MQ (although it could be the new JMS provider in WAS 6, that bridges to MQ), and it includes tools for making use of and supporting the schemas and design patterns that sit on top of the transport.
But it seems clear to me (but I'm only speculating) that the market share for traditional MQ is in the process of migrating to a more JMS/SOA market space. And thus, it would not be surprising if IBM's product line followed (as much as it tried to lead) the market share. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

b above sums things up...
ESB is a product.
SOA a concept.
The information I (a he) received was at the IBM WebSphere Technical Exchange Cnf in Miami this past week. There IBM developers told me MQSeries (currently WebSphere MQ) was being renamed to ESB which will includes some things like JMS, and other components not mentioned.
But actually the name would have to
be WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus as per an earlier post.
But I think it will be more like
WebSphere ESB.There is no link to post or I would have done so.
IBM is pushing SOA/ESB and J2EE MAJOR BIG TIME. _________________ WebSphere Application Server 7.0 z/OS &

Either totally untrue or you have misunderstood. Were these "IBM developers" part of the MQ development organisation? I doubt it. |

Actually if you are attentive it's all there in V6.
You do have:
Websphere V6 internal JMS Provider (JMS provider + bus internal transport ?)
Websphere V6 Service Integration Bus (raw bus)
Websphere V6 Process Server (Orchestration services)
Websphere V6 Broker (Transformation and routing)
Websphere V6 MQ (Transport)
This is the pallette of products that make the ESB.
Enjoy |

Also see Message Broker vs. ESB.
And as markt said, either you misheard/misunderstood, or the said "IBM developers" did. |

I was told this in a session called 'WebSphere v6 meet the experts'.
i.e... We are talking about WebSphere Application Server here.
A panel of IBM WebSphere developers...
"...MQSeries is being renamed to ESB...."
"...will include JMS and some other things..."
"...Message Broker is the advanced ESB..."
Being renamed to me means 'future' not present. Let us see what the future will bring and end the pissing contest. _________________ WebSphere Application Server 7.0 z/OS &
