Hi,
MQ5.3,AIX 5.X,

In production QM A has reached the maximum client connection (100) ,
Where i can find only 3 QM's (diff. system) connected to QM A(Dont know how the max channel is reached)
i can find around 97 instances of amqcrsta were running .
We added the max channels parameter in qm.ini and restarted the QM.The problem is resolved.
In order to avoid downtime is it feasible tht if i kill some amqcrsta instances , so that it will instantiate new client connections.

The best solution is to investigate why the Client Connections are not disconnecting.

Last time this happened to me I did not have to bounce the QM. Just do a force stop and restart of the offending SVRCONN channel.

Enjoy

This doesn't happen to be on a WAS server or some other Java application server? I have found that you have to tune WAS to keep the number of connections within reason. Plus the developers do have to remember to close the connection to the queue managers.
