Can anyone point me to articles that describe how to retrieve the work items form a user's worklist using JAVA API for workflow?

In your Workflow installation folders u'll find a folder concerning Java and there u'll find the entire API index in HTML files...

U will find the api in this directory

C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere MQ Workflow\DOC\javaapi

Look at programming guide to get more details

U can use ExecutionService.queryWorkItems() or other similar methods, all of these are well documented in the programming guide.
