I am trying to connect from an AIX system running MQ client, to another AIX system running a queue manager. I get a 2035 on the MQCONN. I understand that this is a security error.
In looking at the queue manager, I see a message on the SYSTEM.ADMIN.QMGR.EVENT queue, and looking at the data I see the userID in there, but it has been translated from upper case to lower case.

In trying to connect with another ID in the same group, it works fine. This second ID is also in upper case, but there does exist an ID with the same name, but in lower case.

Does MQ translate the ID from upper case to lower case ?
Do I need to have 2 IDs, one in upper case and one in lower case to make this work ?

This is the default behavior for client channels. The idea being that unix userid's are normally lower case, so if the ID is upercase there are folded to lowercase.

If you define any security exit on the svrconn channel (even a dummy one), then the conversion doesn't happen (if memory serves correctly).

What about mainframe QM's? - RACF expects upper case ids!!

The ID case transliteration is done on the server, so it would not affect a client connecting to a mainframe.
