Hi,
question is in regards with MQ 5.3 SSL configuration. I used to work with 5.2 and lost touch with this product in the recent times. I got few questions that wud give me head-start from your expert comments.

1) On Solaris,
In order to configure the SSL for MQ, should the customer needs to buy some kind of certificates from outside or are these available with the MQ product ?

2) I am developing J2EE based app to connect to this SSL enabled Queue manager. How do I address this SSL concept frm J2ee development perspective? Question is should i mention some parameters regarding SSL like certificate name, or what ever ?

3) should this Java app also carry some kind of SSL certificates ?

i know these r pretty basic n dumb questions to ask but i have got this job of enabling SSL on QM and java app in 2 days ........... (meanwhile i will be reading MQ Security doc)

all inputs r welcome

The MQ Security doc and the Using Java manual will cover these in extreme detail, and should directly answer all of your questions.

As long as you are careful in following instructions, you should be able to accomplish this in 2 days.... but it will be very busy!

1. If production, yes you need to buy some certs. You can create your own certs using ikeyman that is shipped with GSKit.

2. Search the site for client java and ssl you will get bunch of code samples on how to do this.

3. same as above
