Hi, I have two queue managers building a simple cluster. One of them joines in an other cluster too. Now I had to remove all the cluster stuff from this two QM. This worked fine as far as I can see there are no cluster queues or channels anymore and the following command looks good to me.
Code: |
dis clusqmgr(*)
1 : dis clusqmgr(*)
AMQ8147: WebSphere MQ object not found.
|
What I am wondering that there are still messages in the SYSTEM.CLUSTER.REPOSITORY.QUEUE and SYSTEM.CLUSTER.TRANSMIT.QUEUE especially on the QM which has joined two clusters. Is this causing problems when I am adding this queue managers again to a other or the same clusters? |

Yes it will.
I expect that you did not follow the correct procedures for removing a qmgr from a cluster as listed in the Clusters manual. The easiest option for you now is to delete and recreate all your qmgrs. _________________ MQSeries.net helps those who help themselves.. |

Thanks for the reply! Is this really the only way. It is not very practicable since there are some applications working on non cluster queues of this queue managers.
Is there not a way to get rid of the messages in these queues? What happens if we delete them? |

I have tried this many times in the past and encountered no problems, so I think it's safe to clear these queues. I believe that this, coupled with deleting the cluster channels, should work, but i'm not promising anything.
A wise conduct would be to backup the qmgrs (defs, queue content and all) and try. If it works, good, if it doesnt, do what Nigel said. MQ is not an exact science.
And be warned: especially with MQ clusters, you should follow the manual slowly, maticulously and carefully, not skipping a single step, not missing a single command, not breathing when its not explicitly written in the manual, otherwise many bad things will happen. Bad, evil, unspeakable things. |
