I'm trying to run the inst_db program to generate the NEON database schema.
OS AIX. MQSI v2.0.2 & Oracle 8.1.7.
When the first set of parameters are provided and either 0 or 1 is selected (to install or refresh DB) the operation fails with the following error text.
dba_sql_obj::connectToDB:Unable to create user context/session (databasename).
Error code (307), text
(File: /home/src/ccm_wa/eng_dev/OTI~OT_2.20_26/OTI/ot/server/NNOTDirectory.cpp
Line: 267
An attempt was made to bind to the function 'NNSesOra8Factory' in the shared lib
rary 'dbt22or806', but an error occurred. The operating system returned this error message: ''.).
I can successfully run the inst_db.exe from my NT workstation - this seems to suggest that the Oracle DB etc is okay! So why is it not working on AIX?
Any ideas or help would be most gratefully received!

Given that the original post is from three years ago, I'd be surprised if jhalstead responds.
And I really hope you aren't using MQSI 2.0.2, like jhalstead was. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

really sorry, just can't stretch my mind back this far, however I guess the usual suspects for this type of thing would be in the users .profile
Oracle environment variables
path and libpath
NEON / NNSY specific environment variables
we also had some problems with needing to create a symbolic link to an oracle client library file but not sure if this was mqsi or neon related
Sorry I can't be any more use, we were just kinda passing through v2.0.2
Good luck!
Jamie
P.S. I'll try and dig a round - if I can find anthing that spurs my memory I'll post. |

Thanks, you helped , I checked the profile for LIBPATH and the ORACLE library was gone.
