Hi,
We have 2 solaris queue manager, QM1 and QM2. QM1 with 4500 connection and QM2 with 4500 connection. Configuration for both queue managers are the same. We see that amqzlaa0_nd process in QM1 is consuming around around 300MB size of memory. Wheras in QM2 it is under 200MB. Why do we see this difference. Why do this process use so much memory in QM1 but not in QM2?
Thanks |

It really depends on what the qmgr has been doing, not the configuratoin. The memory size of amqzlaa0 includes the shared memory it is attached to, and shared memory usage varies according to what queues are open, how many msgs they contain, how many apps are connected, and a whole load of things. |

A simple but necessary question - are both QM's on the same server?
Is this behavior consistent? That is, if you restart both QM's (and server, just to be sure) does it remain the same?
(I assume this is a full-blown prod server, so you probably can't just boot them and check, but did you notice it before?) |

And are they both running the same version of the code? You said that the configuration information is the same. Does this mean they have the exact same kernel definitions? |

Kernel setting, version and other configuration are all the same. These queue managers reside in 2 different box and are in a Sun cluster setup. As mentioned earlier all memory used are released when we reboot the server. So when we start on a Monday morning the memory usage are the same. Please let me know if you require any info. |
