So I've done some playing around with the new open beta ( http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=21597 ).
One interesting result I have found is that you can migrate the MQExplorer plug-ins to a standard Eclipse 3.0 environment, using the following steps - Copy all com.ibm.mq feature and plug-in subfolders from the IBM eclipse installation to the same locations in your other eclipse install
- Copy the links folder from the IBM eclipse install
- Start eclipse with the -clean option to have it rebuild it's installed features/plug-ins configuration.
This may allow you to put the plug-ins into any WSAD/RAD tooling running on Eclipse 3.0.
On Windows, you may also be able to hand create the necessary registry entries before you install the MQ Explorer to have the installer write into your existing eclipse install. But I didn't try that, and it is likely to be very unsupported. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Quick question:
Can you co-exist older versions and v6 (on Windows)? |

I haven't tried it.
Yet.
I kind of doubt it from what I saw, as I think it had the same set of registry entries. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

I succesfully tested MQDocument (local and client mode using MO72) with the new V6 code.
I did not see MQSC commands for the new security PCF commands _________________ Michael

I tried upgrading a 5.3 installation, but unfortunately the beta does not allow upgrades...
it detects a 5.3 installation and then says to uninstall first. _________________ Michael

Install freezes during setup. Have tried 3 times and it stalls on trying to do something with the file amqt0002.txt (I have a screen shot) - on my last attempt I left the machine overnight (thinking it might just take a while), but it was still sitting there the next morning.
Can I post this problem to IBM ? |

I would report it on the newsgroup that IBM have provided for the beta.
Interestingly though, I couldn't find that file in either the installation zip or in any of the directories created by the install.
Cheers,

I had the same problem with this just last night. I was doing a custom install and enabling all of the optional components. I tried again this morning and only did a typical install, which was successful. I then ran the installer a second time and added the optional components (except for the transactional clients). That worked too.
It would be worth reporting on the beta forum. I will drop a line to the beta programme too. |

Has anyone who's played with it looked at how security has changed? Specifically I'm using the ms0e support Pac ( runmqadm ) and how it will work in V6?
TIA

I am able to use the Perl modules to access a v6 queue manager successfully.
EDIT:
More importantly, perhaps, I can build the perl modules on a machine that only has v6 on it. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
