hi all,
I am trying to install WMQWF3.5 on my windows XP SP2 and while installing i get the following error:
FMC36250E An unexpected error has occured.
More information is included in file fmcsetup.log in directory c:\Program Files\IBM Websphere MQ WorkFlow\LOG.
i have this recorded in the LOG:
INFO : - The environment variable path has been updated to: C:\PROGRA~1\IBMWEB~1\BIN\MQServer.
WARNING : - Creation failed:
WARNING : - - the Program Folder was not created.
WARNING : - - the Icon to start the Configuration Program FMCZACFG.EXE was not created.
WARNING : - ProgramFolder: .\IBM WebSphere MQ Workflow
WARNING : - Function ID: 135
WARNING : - Return Code: -1
WARNING : - FMC36250E An unexpected error has occurred.
WARNING : - More information is included in file fmcsetup.log in directory C:\Program Files\IBM WebSphere MQ Workflow\LOG.
I tried installing almost 8-9 times in 2 days in different users. Still it gives the same error. But continues with installing. And i configure FMC after restarting and it returns success. I find the folder created in c:\Program Files\IBM Websphere WorkFlow. But i dont find WorkFlow in my Start>Programs>.
Can anyone suggest me what the basic reason for this problem ? and whats the way to solve it.

read the installation guide. It clearly mentioned how to uninstall WF for every OS.
My suggestion: Take backup of your programs, fdls and stuff.
serach for FMC configuration in your installed drive (mine is C:\program files) and also search for any other defined configurations.
Now delete all of them and even in WAS (if you have it installed on same machine)
Even after Uninstalling, you may see the folder WF in the installed drive, delete that one too.
and may be you need to clear the registry values for Work flow (I never touched so far but if the problem is critical, you need more advise from forum or installation guides).
It is not a better practice to uninstall lot of times. I got the same kind of problems. I deleted all of my configurations and even FMCBTDB.
Better luck. |

So, the problem is not with the installation but with the configuration then.
At what point are you getting this error? |

i am making up the setup..
1. it extracts the contents of package
2. it copies files to a folder
3. It goes to the screen where i see 3 bars with CD icons on left like dancing to tunes
4. Once that is complete it says "Setup is now updating ur registry"
Then this error comes.
once i click OK, it continues with the registry process and completes in less than a min and asks for RESTART.
I initially thought my SW version on CD got corupted. But the same is happening with another CD.
Thanks

Normally, it installs that way. what happened when you restart?.
If you still have the same problem, try installing in another location. It might work. |

i tried the same way u suggested kotha, but still i got the same problem. My be it is installing and configuring successfully. But i am not able to use the runtime as i cannot see this "IBM Websphere MQ Workflow" in the programs option.
Is there any other location that i can go and find the icon of runtime and use it instead of in "START>PROGRAMS>" |

Yes it works. If i type fmczutil :
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>fmczutil
FMC33201I Configuration Commands Menu:
l ... List
s ... Select
c ... Create
x ... Exit Configuration Commands Menu
l
- FMC33611I The following configurations are defined:
FMC5 (Default configuration)
I just created FMC5 and it works fine in cmd prompt. But i wanna use GUI to import FDL and so on. I am familiar with only GUI. |

There is no GUI to import FDLs. _________________ -Ratan |

as rathan told, check with fmczutil from cmd line.
u will see the following screen:
l.....list
s....select
c...create
then type c
if you see Configuration identifier : [FMC]
....
then i assume it is installed. if so, continue creating one configuration and finally see wether it appeared at Start>Prorgams>MQ WF> FMC.
if not, post your WF response here |

hi all,
It actually installs and configures but i cant find it in START->PROGRAMS.
So, what i have done is went to the folder where WMQWF is installed (c:/Program files/IBM Websphere WorkFlow/BIN) and created short cut of "fmcbmain" in Programs->Workflow(created manually) for BUILD TIME and "fmcn6rtc" for RUNTIME CLIENT. In that way i am able to use WF from my START->PROGRAMS. So, my problem is solved, but its still a mystery why i am not able to get this folder in PROGRAMS when it installs and configures.
Thanks
