Dear forum,
I have a situation that like to get your help from.
I have a workflow synchronous activity implemented using UPES interface. We need to place the activity to InError state because the service returned an error. This allows us to document the error in the activity using XML Error interface.
The activity gets into InError successfuly, and I also could use the Web Client monitor to force restart the activity. Again, I could still see the activity appearing in "ready" state. But, how do I start this activity using the web client? This means, I want to re-submit a request message using UPES to the service when this happens.
Does it send a UPES message when we force restart the activity? How do I get a second message re-submited to the UPES service waiting on the queue?
Also, for the same UPES service, I have modeled Notification parameters to get notifications, if the UPES service does not reply in 10 mins. This way, the process admin gets a notification that the services does not reply. This way, the process admin could force restart the activity, and I could see the activity gets into a "ready" state. Similar to the InError situation, I like to re-submit the request back to the service using UPES interface. But, I need to start this manually, and where and how can I start it manually? Does the force restart re-submit a UPES message to the queue, when we force re-start it?
Thank you for your attention.

For this activity select "Program Activities can not be checked out" from the activity properties. WebClient always does a checkout if that is available for the activity, so you are unable to replay the message.
Another option is write your own program to start the activity. _________________ -Ratan |

Hi Ratan,
So, it does allow you replay the message by taking off that flag on the activity?
Do we have to start anything called PEA locally for this to work?
Please clarify:
1. Modify the activity to take off "can be checked out" flag
2. Force restart
3. Does the activity still gets to "ready" state, after we take out "can be checked out" flag?
4. If yes, how do I re-submit the request? Using which options?
Thank you for your attention..

On a forcerestart activity always goes to Ready state. You have to start the activity after a force restart (in a ready state).

Click the start Icon if you are using the WebClient. _________________ -Ratan |
