Hi,

Personally speaking I would always go for Intel.

Especially on a Laptop (unless you want to use it like a desktop and therefore you have always energy available) I'd always prefer Pentium M processors to any other CPU. They need less energy, have a relativ good performance and don't produce that much of heat.

My 2 cents

cheers

Sebastian

Go for AMD, intel have only just caught up with the 64 bit extensions in desktop and server chips, and a 64 bit centrino will not be available for a long time.

Win XP 64 bit is due to be released in april (I think), indications from 64 bit linux are that 64 bit code offers a distinct performance advantage over 32 bit code. Even business applications such as java and databases benefit as the 64 bit instruction set has twice as many registers as the 32 bit instruction set, meaning less loads/stores to memory.
