You need to know what to test.
What is the input.....what is the output you expect etc

As a tester, you should understand why you are running tests. That is, there should be a strategy for your testing. Why is your project doing testing? What requirements have been set out for testing? What are you trying to show with the test results?

Are you trying to ensure that the code meets the requirements? Are you trying to track the performance of the code? Are you trying to determine if the code functions at all? Are you trying to determine why the code breaks at a particular point?
