Ok after a search on IBM and on here I still have no definitive answer.

I am currently running 1.4.1 and all is fine

Does anyone have any reasons why not to upgrade to 1.5.1

Or an offiicial from IBM?

Many thanks

I don't think you can change what JDK version the Broker services or Toolkit uses.

So what is your question, involving WBIMB?

yes it is WBIMB is why i put it in the WMQI forum (not being sarcastic)

So the level is unimportant as long as it is 1.3.1 or above?

I think that the Broker services and Broker Toolkit will use the jdk that they install, not the one you install.

So to that extent, I don't think it does matter. I think that the requirement to have a JDK is only needed so you can run the installer, not for the product. Although that's not true for the Remote Agent Controller...?

But I wouldn't be too surprised if the installer doesn't work with JDK 1.5.x.

jeff many thanks as usual you have answered my question

It looks like the client will have to live with what they have then.

The client is upgrading from 2.1 to 5 so whatever comes with the install will have the correct level.

looks like as long as compiler is at 1.3.1 then all is fine unless newer adapters are being used (1.4.2)

many thanks

Just a little correction: it's true on Windows platform. On Unix you have to select the right JDK (JRE) version.
