Hi - new install on windows 2003. Have installed the software, and csd04. For whatever reason, the software updates are giving us headaches. Cannot install from toolkit - just hangs and has to be killed via task manager. Cannot download from ftp site - says arguements are too long....seems to be more difficult than necessary.
previous install on windows 2000 was a snap. Have noticed the ftp site has been updated since the win2000 install back in late november.
wondering - is our issue the win2003 thing, or the new ftp site...??
Thanks,
-j |

There are instructions in the readme for FixPack 4 of Broker about issues regarding toolkit updates.
I'd suggest reading and following them, and seeing if they fix the problem. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Thank you both for your replies. I am aware of the feature update capability of the toolkit as described in the readme document - and have previously been able to successfully acomplish the tasks as stated there. However, with our new setup, this no longer seems to work.
And thanks to the netstat command, I can tell the server is actually able to connect to the ftp website - it just doesn't seem to be quite able to return any files.
Attempts to directly ftp to my personal desktop have also been unsuccessful - I seem to be in a bit of a pickle!! |

That's a network problem, then. Talk to your network administrator. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

...Able to ftp the contents of features folder by selecting them all at once, however in plugins folder you have to download each file indivudually...so just wondering when was the last time anyone have had a successful update initiated from within the broker... |

I'm not sure it would be a network issue. We can ftp these files individually - which seems to be an unnecessarily ugly solution when you take a gander at the huge amount of files this includes. We were able to accomplish the update from the toolkit previously - and we have confirmed with our security staff that we are not now being prevented from this type of transfer...
Is it possible that something has been corrupted at the ftp site that is now preventing this from working? Have any of you folks been able to perform this update successfully recently? Would anyone be willing to give it a shot - just to be sure it works for you still, and it truely is something we've messed up here??!?
thanks!

Ok - I can see the in the install/update perspective/sites to visit/optional updates properties, that the toolkit attempts to reach this website:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/mqseries/fixes/wbimbv50/discovery ....which if I place directly in a browser, takes me just where I want to go. From here, I can ftp the files directly to my desktop.
However, if I launch the update request from the toolkit - it hangs. Running NETSTAT on the server shows the server to be connecting successfully as such:
dispsd-40-www3.boulder.ibm.com:ftp ESTABLISHED
If I then ping dispsd-40-www3.boulder.ibm.com, I get a reply from:
207.25.253.40
Which, when placed in a browser, brings me here:
http://www.ibm.com/support/us/
I can't tell what happens from here. All I can tell for sure is nothing ever comes back to us. Has anyone else seen this happen lately? This was working for us back around early December, but now it isn't. What am I missing? Thanks in advance!! |

So - we left the toolkit update request open for about 4 hours - and finally the updates showed up! Whatever the reason, be it our network, or the website, or whatever....given enough patience - we finally got what we wanted....
All things are possible for those who wait, I guess... |
