Hello,
I had to change my password (windows XP) and I see that I could not connect to the config manager through toolkit. It has the BIP0889E error.
The configuration manager and the broker are up and running fine. All the components are on the same machine and all of them have latest fix packs. (WBIMB v 5).
The problem seems to be in toolkit.
After changing the windows password, I had issued the changeconfigmgr and changebroker commands. Every thing went good and the broker asnd config maanager are up and running now. But could not connnect through toolkit. Any ideas ?
Thanks,
Pvemuri. |

Hi,
The problem is solved. We did not include the database user ID and password attributes while using the MQSICHANGECONFIGMGR / BROKER commands. When we include those attributes, it works fine now.
Thanks,

Hi can u explain more what you did to resolve the proublem.
I thought as databases for CONFIGMGR AND BROKER is created with old username and passwords.
Later you change your password of XP .You could not connect to configmgr or broker.(Thats what happend to my system actually).
Thanks ram |

Ram,
Initially, when we create the broker and configmgr from command prompt, we did not provide the db username and password. But when we issued the MQSICHANGECONFIGMGR / BROKER we provided those parameters also.
That solved the problem,
Thanks -

If you do not provide a database user and password to mqsicreateconfigmgr and mqsicreatebroker, then the service user is used to connect to the database.
If the database does not have authorizations for the service user, then the command will not complete successfully.
If the password for either user changes, you need to update it using the apporpriate methods. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Hi Jefflowrey,
I have broker, configmgr, toolkit on my xp machine.Everything working fine as stand alone .
Situation One:
1)When my system was setup into Clients domain then my system was not working even as I logged in to my old user name and password with which I created broker, configmgr and their databases .
When I change the broker, configmgr, databases services in to run as Local system then they start working. Can you through some light on it.
Situation Two:
2)Just I changed my system password. Then MessageBroker is not working. Can u tell me what is the procedure if I want to change my password without effecting to WBIMB.
I appreciate your time Thank you Ram |

I am not willing to provide an in depth recitation of the security configurations of WBIMB.
If someone is paying you to assist them in setting up WBIMB, then you should know this already. If you do not, then your client probably should not have hired you.
The documentation provides such. Go read it. Learn the difference between the service user and the database user. Learn how to change passwords, and which passwords can be changed without dropping and recreating the broker or cfgmgr and which passwords CAN'T be changed without dropping and recreating the broker or cfgmgr . _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
