Hi

I have problem with two WBIMB 5 (csd04) flows on AIX platform, both flows do DB inserts to DB2 (ver. 8.2, located in another AIX machine). First flow is using DataInsert node and second is calling DB2 stored procedure using PASSTHRU statement).

The problem is that scandinavian characters are corrupted if the database insert is done from the flow on AIX (for example "Ä" --> "Ã?").

If I put & get the same message to/from queue using MQJExplorer or RFHc util everything looks fine, the scandinavian characters stay OK. So I would think that this is not WMQ issue.

Also if I start the DB2 client in WBIMB AIX machine and make stored procedure call (with scands in parameter), the scandinavian letters are stored correctly in DB2. Which makes me think that the DB2 client configuration is OK on AIX ?

In the Windows environment both flows are working fine.

Any ideas what I should check, or what might be causing this ?

Regards,
aq

This could be an issue with the NLS_LANG environment variable not being set in the AIX broker runtime...

Although I don't know if DB2 uses NLS_LANG, or some other such to indicate if national language services should be used or not.

We used IBM's support and they instructed to add "MQSI_LOCAL_CCSID=819" to the broker user's environment, it solved the problem !

Little bit strange parameter, WBIMB 5's help doesnt mention anything about it.

Following post/technote are discussing about the same problem:

special character insert in Oracle database:
