Does anybody have a code-example lying around for logging on using a different user id then the one supplied by the OS? |

The search button has, after many hours, supplied me with plenty of examples how not to do it, and a few comments from people who claim it is impossible. I actually use the DOT NET driver, but post it here because the programming seems similar and there is no specific .net forum. Some comments say it is possible in Java because applets can't get the system user ID but that in all other languages user ID's have to be signed, whatever that means. The user documentation talks about getting the Windows SID user authentication and using that one. It however does not give any examples. From the forums I can see this is a recurrent problem many people face. Most of them end up circumventing the problem by creating alternate user id's on the server or unprotected channels. Is there an elite uber-hacker out there who can write a FAQ about this? |

You've found the truth.
In all cases where it is possible, IBM does the right thing - which is pass the OS level user ID and password for the process running the code. Which means that, except in Java where Java requires it to be NOT possible, you merely have to change which user is running your process!
Or implement a security exit.
But generally, posting a question about one language in the forum for another language won't end up being very helpful.
