I've never really thought about this much but a discussion I had today has got me wondering. Yeah I know, I can already hear the sighs....
OK, lets assume KeepAlive is set to yes in the qm.ini.
Then on an SVRCONN CHL the KAINT is set to (AUTO) and HBINT is (300).
Does this mean that the KAINT is 300 + 60=360 seconds?
If KeepAlive is not specified in the qm.ini what is the default YES or NO?
If KeepAlive is no in the qm.ini file and KAINT on the channel is (AUTO) is there still a KeepAlive interval of the value of HBINT +60.
Or if KeepAlive is no in the qm.ini and the KAINT on the channel is (361) does the channel itself have a KeepAlive of 361?
In other words does KeepAlive=no in the qm.ini overrule the channel value of KAINT or just use it if KeepAlive is set to yes?
If KeepAlive is yes and the KAINT is (0) what happens?
Finally if KeepAlive is yes, KAINT is (AUTO) and HBINT is (0) on a SVRCONN channel....
The Intercommunications guild says that HBINT is only valid for Sender, ClusterSender, Server, Receiver, ClusterReceiver and Requester Channels but when I display chl on a SVRCONN Channel I see an HBINT attribute. <wonders why> _________________ Yes, I am an agent of Satan but my duties are largely ceremonial. |

KAINT is z/OS only
HBINT on SVRCONN channels is only used during long MQGETs |
