Is there any way to make MQSI (2.1 for z/OS)broker with Config Mgr on NT use a different database on that NT machine other than DB2-UDB. Customer has over 120 systems with DB2 on z/OS and that's where our broker will be. They would like to see two things in order of importance:
- Configuration Manager component (NT) use a non-DB2/UDB database such as Oracle, SQLServer, etc.
- Configuration Manager on z/OS.
The first is most important because while DB2 is deeply entrenched in large host environment, their middleware and workstation tiers are Oracle, Sybase, and SQLServer -- they have no support structure for DB2/UDB on NT today and view this as additional cost.
THANKS! As an aside, how can a business partner open a product requirements such as above directly with IBM?

Have your local IBM rep raise the requirement (to act as a sponsor). If they don't know how, ask them to get in contact with we (Neil Kolban). |

I'm a business partner and will have the customer open relevant PASRs with their IBM team (I don't have an IBM team or rep). Haven't other customers submitted this as a requirement? (I'd be surprised, seems there should be TONS of large DB2 customers out there who would like the whole thing on z/OS; and if it cannot be for some reason, such as Config Mgr component, it should allow flexibility of off-host DBs (which in this customers' case would be Oracle, SQLServer, Sybase, Informix; and they don't seem that different from many large companies; different support structures, etc. affect cost).
IS there a contact group in MQSI (IBM) for business partners? (I tried partnerworld and found literature, redbooks, etc., but not really this type of forum). Is there an IBM lab contact focused on partners who are working with customers on MQSI? (or other MQ components)
THANKS! |
