for a long long time the highest number of concurrent users online at mqseries.net was 34...
As of yesterday (16th March) that number has been beaten by 1...
Congratulations Brandon on another milestone!!!
and as Brandon would call this a shameless plug... I am doing it anyway...
Did you know you can sponsor this site? It's free and Brandon wants to keep it that way... so have look here... no obligations

Ever since this append, I keep half an eye on the user count. I just noticed:

Thanks for pointing that out. I don't always notice when the concurrent record increases.
For those of you who are interested, we are now getting about 1000 unique visits per day.
And this translates into about 80,000 hits per day.
Oh yeah, and we're the #1 result for "mqseries" on google. Which is cool because if you type "mqseries" and click "I'm feeling Lucky" it brings you here. _________________ Brandon Duncan

It's funny, I actually did nothing.
When I told this to my friend, he was amazed - because he runs a for-profit membership site and spends lots of time and money trying to move his site up in search-engine rankings.
As it turns out, the primary factor in being ranked high in google is to have other high ranking websites link to yours.
Because so many of you guys have sprinkled links to this site around the web, we slowly crawled up and up the rankings. I've been watching it for some time, and as short as a month ago, IBM's MQ homepage was still above mqseries.net. But something must have pushed us over the top recently... _________________ Brandon Duncan

BTW, what do you guys think about me setting up an archive of the ListServ messages on this site?
There are plenty of freely distributable tools to do this automatically, like MHarc, and I could integrate it into the search tool we already have, so that when you search for something it looks at both the 60,000 postings on this site and several years worth of ListServ messages at the same time.
Any thoughts? _________________ Brandon Duncan

Yes, that would be a good idea. I take it then Google's site specific search could also search through these. _________________ Peter Potkay

On most BB sites, web spiders are recorded as "online users". Sometimes they can actually be the majority of "online users", and in fact usually account for the peaks in numbers.
A better guide to activity trends is the number of new posts per day. |
