What are you looking at to know that the qmgr hasn't ended?

Are you sure you don't have processes running for a second qmgr? What is the output of the dspmq command?

What happens when you type "runmqsc QMGRNAME"?

Jakez,

I'd seen a similar problem on Unix and the only solution was the kill command ... I recommend you to study the hamqm_stop script which belongs the HA supportpack: qmgr stopping in 3 steps (immediate, preemptive, kill) with timeouts.

Back to this problem: later when I analyzed the FDC files I always found an OS issue in the background, e.g. IPC resources or filesystem.

HTH,

Tibor

Do not forget it might as well be an Application that has a hold on the qmgr. Usually when the corresponding application process finishes (dies) the qmgr is finally shut down.

Sometimes you are being told that you cannot start the qmgr because of process ID = pid #.

Enjoy

dspmq should show the status of the defined MQManager/s on the server.
