My mainframe knowledge is limited. When installing MQ is there a possiblility of MQ being installed with a higher priority than the operating system .And in that case if there is some thing goes down on MQ that causes to hang the system or QM?
There are various components of the operating system and these can (and some would argue that they should) run with different WLM priorities. What priority you run the MQ address spaces is up to the individual site. We run ours at a high priority (actually the same as IMS and DB2)
Having said that, even if your MQ address spaces run with high priority they should never freeze the operating system out.
z/OS is a totally different beast to operating systems like Windows etc. Many years of developemnt by IBM has resulted in z/OS being almost bulletproof. There is little that even the worst programs can do to totally bring the whole operating system down.
