Has anyone ever come accross the record layout of the Archive Logs?
I want to be able to read the log and pull messages of for replay and recovery. IBM had a supprt pac but it was useless for what we wanted.

If you do not know z/OS then you have no business replying to the post.

The answer you are seeking can be found by doing a search of this site.

That is about as much help as you deserve after insulting a long standing and valuable member of this site.

This site is a great resource and the people that use this site deserve respect until they prove otherwise. They are after all your fellow professionals.

But finally what about coming back to the question ? I would also be interested in the layout of the log written on z/os, as the support pac doesnt provide my the flexibility I would like to have...

As far as I am aware the format of the logs is not published by IBM. You will have to reverse engineer them. What function do you need that isn't in the support pack?

If the layout of the logs would have been published, I would not need to aks... (under the asumption, I would be able to find such info...)

I would like to have more flexibility. No only RBA range, but for example user/applid, or, if I already now on which log to digg, date/time... reengineer the stuff looks not that easy, if you even dont have a DSECT of those log records...

Btw, it's not my wish... For me, logs are there for the subsystem(s) to have proper data at all circumstances and not as 'I would like/need to know...' and debugging purposes... But publishing a little bit such things in a manual would also not be wrong...
