Hi all,
we have been noticing some differences between the two MQ versions regarding PCF command usage.
The commands are sent from WMQI 2.1 flows to perform Queue inhibit commands.
It seems that while MQ 5.2 it uses the OS user to validate the action, MQ 5.3 uses the MQMD.UserIdentifier to validate the action.
We do not usually use the MQMD header, and I rather not change it.
The WMQI broker resides on the same machine as the MQ QMGR.

Did I get the story right ?
Can we change the OAM behavior in 5.3 ?
:-?
Thanks.

As far as I know, there is no OAM behaviour difference between v5.2 and v5.3.

Both versions follow the following logic:

Rule #1: If the the channel has a value for MCAUSER field then it will be used for the connection regardslless of what value is in the message's MQMD.UserID field.

Rule #2: If the the channel does NOT have a value for MCAUSER field then the value is in the message's MQMD.UserID field will be used - unless it is blank see rule #3.

Rule #3: If the the channel does NOT have a value for MCAUSER field AND message's MQMD.UserID field is blank then the UserID of the MQ listener (MCA) will be used. i.e. MSUR_MQADMIN for Windows, mqm for Unix, QMQM for OS/400, etc...

My guess is that under MQ v5.2 you probably had a value specified in the MCAUSER field of the channel. (Big security hole!!)
