Just a general architect question. In a business that has several business units, would you give each unit it's own Qmgr for failover and protection or simply put each process on the same Qmgr and just wait until the growing capacity warrants a new Qmgr?
Thanks. |

Well, there are many factors in coming to a decision in this area.
Things like:
1. If you go with multiple queue managers, would they still live on the same machine, in the same building, network, etc?
2. If you go with a single queue manager, will the units need to go over the internet to communicate with them, or are you always going to be on a secure corporate network?
3. Is it more of a hub-and-spoke design, where all the units are sending information to and from a mainframe or central server, versus all the units send information amongst each other?
4. What is the nature of the information? Is persistence important? Are transactions important? _________________ Brandon Duncan
