Hi All,

We have two clusters (one for test, one for real application) been set up for long time. All the setup are identical except for the MQ object name, channel port number. The cluster structure like below:

QMT1 on Server A and QMT2 on Server B and QMT3 on ThirdPartyServer joined as cluster TST
QMP1 on Server A and QMP2 on Server B and QMP3 on ThirdPartyServer joined as cluster APP

The APP cluster is running well. However, the TST cluster oftenly got TCP/IP connection problem between QMT1/QMT2 to QMT3. The error shown on error log of the QMs quoted as below:

ACTION:
Tell the systems administrator.

AMQ9999: Channel program ended abnormally.

EXPLANATION:
Channel program 'TO.QMT3' ended abnormally.
ACTION:
Look at previous error messages for channel program 'TO.QMT3' in the error
files to determine the cause of the failure.

Did anyone have the same experience? Any idea why this happened on one cluster but not the other one?

Hi Siliconfish,

Thanks. The information of the link is very useful.

However, I suspect if the port scanner tool is the reason in my case. If it caused by that port scanner tool, the APP cluster should have the same problem because all the QMs are hosted on the same server as TST QMs.

Also, in the error logs, it only recorded 9209 errors, but there was no 9228 error found.

Need more help. Thanks.

If the channel TO.QMT3 is having a problem on QMT1 and QMT2, I would be real interested to see the error logs for QMT3.

Is QMT3 having any problems that QMP3 is not?

Compare the CLUSRCVR channels TO.QMT3 and TO.QMP3 for any differences.

You pointed out a import thing here and I think it should be the direction to find out the problem.

Unfortunataly, that two QMs are mananged by third party company and they didn't want to tell us the detail; however yesterday, they did mention that they got problem on they test environment.

I will update once I find something. Thanks again.


A related question, when I did some test (sending messages from my local computer to the one of the cluster queue), the messages were delivered but the log file recorded some TCP/IP error. This time is AMQ9208. Do you know the reason.

I ran into this problem but forgot what I did to fix it. I do have to ask though, are you using SSL on any of the channels on either side?

Check your error logs for more information. Did you get any FDC files? You should probably download the error message manual from IBM's website as it lists all (actually most...) of these error codes. Sometimes they are detailed, sometimes they are sort of non-descript.

Both 9208 and 9209 involve errors receiving data from the remote host. 9208 specifically adds: This may be due to a communications failure. (oh how insightful these messages can be, not!). Sorry, but I just can't remember what was the exact cause and what I did to fix these when I ran into them. Maybe it'll come to me later on.
