Hi Krish,
First of all let me tell you that, ALTER QMGR is used to alter the Queue manager Attributes. It cannot change the Queue manager itself.
To make any Queue manager the Default qm, you need to modify the mqs.ini/mqsini(depending on your platform). You need to remove, if any, existing Default Queue manager attribute attached to a QM. And then add this attribute to the one which you want to make the Default.
The attribute is.
DefaultQueueManager:
Name=<QM Name>
If there is no default queue manager, just add the above attribute and its value(your qm name) to the ini file. Make sure that no qm is running at this time, at least the default one, if there. Issue an "strmqm" and your new Default QM comes up.
Cheers.
Kumar
