All,
On my machine, I have ICS installed by somebody. For some reason, I could not get connected to the ICS Server on my machine from System Manager ICS Component Management. So, I uninstalled ICS on my machine and I have installed WebsphereInterChangeServer on my machine. My machine already has other components like Webpshere MQ 5.3, Sql Server 2000 and Java 1.3.1 installed.

While configuring ICS, I have given access to local repository. I have already created a Database for repository and login for that DB in Sql Server2000. I created a local repository in Sql Server 2000. The repository name is wicsrepos. And I created a login for this repos. as wicsadmin. And I have configured ICS with Configuration wizard and in the database tab, I gave the name of the host, username and password. In the event management, transactions and repository options, I gave the username as wicsadmin and password as samples.

Then I started ICS Server on my machine. I have also started PersistentNamingServer on my machine.

Then I started System Manager and created an instance under InterChangeServer Instances and I tried to connect to the ICS Server which is running locally. When I tried to connect to the local ICS Server from the System Manager, I gave the ICS server name as 'balaICS' which is already running on my local machine. And username as 'wicsadmin' and password as 'samples'.

But, I got an error message as follows:
"Invalid username and password encountered"

When I tried to connect to the remote Server, then I got the error "Connection refused. Host=....., port=14500"

I could not find any help "How to connect to the local ICS server and remote server from the System manager" anywhere.

I appreciate, any leads....further.

Thanks

The default authentication information for a fresh ICS install is username 'admin' and password 'null'.

I do not know what your connectivity problem with the other ICS is. Ask your network administrator?

This is actually buried in the documentation somewhere.

But I tell you what, it took me a while to find it the first time, and I wasn't going to look again.
