I have seen the following errors in workflow logs

Quote:
FMC31100W The message InvokeProgramResponse could not be processed because of a
database deadlock or timeout. The message will be retried

Could somebody explain me what these errors mean? How to get over such deadlock errors.

Thanks

Can you explain in detail
1) What version of WF (& SP) are you running?
2) when did you get this error?
3) Are there any messages in hold Q ?

If you are running lower version to WF3.4 SP5, please apply SP5. This greatly improves overcoming the deadlock issues.

I think it is worth mentioning that database deadlocks can always occur and usually are resolved by the database engine itself (that's why this message is a warning). Only if the retry limit is exceeded (separate message in the log) or if so much deadlocks happen that performance is degrated it is an error that must be fixed. Nevertheless you should apply the latest Service Pack because many deadlock situations are fixed.

Unfortunately we are still on v3.3 . Some time later... do not know when a decision would be taken to updgrade. While considering that one need to do this.
i have two configurations. i am seeing this on the new configuration and it never occured on the old configuration. I am bit puzzled what is cauisng this when both are running on same version.
Thanks

CHF,
the link is informative. Unfortunately, it is not having a solution/resolution

Ucbus:

1) Note that this is a Warning message (as Volker points out). And as such, can be safely ignored. Especially if there are no messages on the Hold queue (you never answered that one).

2) What are the differences between the 2 configurations? Are they using the exact same levels of all the products (i.e MQWF, DB2, MQ)?

3) How often do you runstats/rebind? I am sure you are aware that this will cut down on database deadlocks. Are both of you configurations on the same schedule for runstats/rebind?

1. There are no message in EXEHOLDQ at present. I will keep watching..
2. The software levels are same
3. The schedule for runstats/rebind is same. But will double check.

I have just cheked it and the backups are scheduled weekly
Thanks
