cobol parsing error

Hi,
While importing copy book( i only created .cpy file) i am getting error like Unknown usaage without PIC clause for the item A.

for that item in my copy book contains like

05 A REDEFINES B.

Any suggestions,

Show us the structure of the copy book. My COBOL is pretty rusty, but doesn't this redefines statement imply element B has to be defined right before element A? Lets see if that's the case.

Please say what version of the broker you are running - the COBOL importers in V2 and V5 are totally different.
