Hi ,
We have installed mqseries server on solaris and HP which have two way communication, the messages are going through fine for the past 2 years. We have some applications which connect through Mqclient to the solaris machine.
today , we got error
AMQ9513: Maximum number of channels reached.
EXPLANATION:
The maximum number of channels that can be in use simultaneously has been
reached. The number of permitted channels is a configurable parameter in the
queue manager configuration file.
ACTION:
Wait for some of the operating channels to close. Retry the operation when some
channels are available.
To resolve this issue I stopped and started the Queue manager on the solaris and HP and the issue is fixed.
I require your suggestion whether I have to increase the maximim number of channels in the QM.ini file
Please reply.
Regards
Sanjiv |

The answer is really : it depends!
Has something changed recently in your configuration or usage?
How many clients connect at any one time and has that number really hit the limit? (slow increase over 2 years)?
Do you have network problems so that clients disconnect without actively disconnecting from the server ?
You really need to investigate and find the reason for this behavior.
Have fun |

If your client program disconnects gracefully, you should not reach the maximum limit.
But if your program is slow to complete, hence hanging on the channel connection, you may reach the limit.
If you increase the limit, if the problem is about not disconnecting properly or too slow to complete, you may still get channel limit again.
I would suggest investigation for root cause. The limit per outstanding TCP request on Solaris is 100. |
