When using MQCONNX can i use the host name of the server inplace of the IP address without any other changes??

For example, can i have:

mqcd.ConnectionName = "123.456.78.9(1420)"

and

mqcd.ConnectionName = "HOSTNAME(1420)"

Are those two equivelant??

Yes. That is fine as long as the DNS name is resolved to the right IP address
