Hi There, I am currently using Candle XE to monitor MQ v 5 and i need to automate the channel restarts and send a SMS message or email to notify someone about it if it does not succeed. Does anybody know how the automation can be done across 3 platforms viz. Windows, Unix and Z/OS. Secondly how can i extract the channel name and QM name from the Candle alert and use it in another notification.
Regards,

You can write a situation to execute an MQ command, or fire off a script which, in turn, would issue an MQ command to start the channel. The name of the channel is availble from the situation. We currently issue an email alert when a channel fails using this method. But, if you need to know if the START CHL command worked is a bit tricky. Your script would have to issue an MQ command to inquire the status of the channel after you issue the START CHL command. This is a timing thing, because if you don't pause before issuing the INQ command, you may get a false negative. |

Thanks for the response. I am using the automation commands within the situations and i know about the policies. I need to know how i can extract the the parameters eg. QM name, Channel Name, DLQ nam, etc. from the alert to populate a email or sms should the automation fail. |

You can get these MQ parametes (Queue manager name, Channel names etc.,) by clicking the attribute button on the action - settings tab. |
