We have a connection z/os to tandem. Normally it works ok, but sometimes we have a big problem:

Send-channel z/os in status running, messages in the transmissionqueue and the receiver on tandem have status inactive.
Note: MQS 2.2.0.1 on Tandem have no HBINT, HBINT on MQS 2.1 on z/os 300 sec and disconnect on send-channel 600 sec. Keepalive active on both
We need help, what´s the reason? What can we do? We have candle for MQSeries, but we can´t monitor this situation.

I see two problem areas in your post:

1) If a channel is running, it transfers messages from its xmitq. If however you see messages in the xmitq and they are not being sent over, it means that they haven't been committed by the putting application.

2) When the receiving end is inactive and sending end is running, but no there are no messages to transfer, the way to close down the channel is a heartbeat flow. In your case its not possible, so try to decrease the disconnect interval (and setup the channel to be triggered)
