Hello,
I am having problems to set up thick client connection with Workflow Server which is located on AIX Box. The steps I followed are:
1. downloaded the MQWFCHL.TAB file from AIX to my local windows system.
2. modified my local host file by entering AIX box name
3. in my path, added MQWFClient
4. Created new configuration pointing Client Connection to the Tabfile I downloaded from AIX.
When I try to login using Thick Client on my local m/c, it is displaying my local templates, instances and work items.
Then, I stopped my services in my local machine and when I try to open the Thick Client, it is giving API Communication Error.
Can anybody help me out in this. Because, it is in Development and I am not able to see what instances were created by Developers.
Thanks in advance,
Mike. |

What do you mean by this
I need to know a few things before I can be of help:
On your local machine do you have MQServer or MQ Client? I am assuming MQServer because you say you have workflow server on your box.
If MQ server, then did you create a new configuration with QMGR to talk to WF server on AIX box or are you using MQClient? If you don't know then what can you use?
Your idea of stopping the workflow on the local server will help in connecting to remote workflow server is not right |

Mike,
if you are trying to configure a Windows client (client only) using a MQWFCHL.TAB..all you have to do is while configuring the client point to the correct MQWFCHL.TAB....
If you want to edit the MQWFCHL.TAB file i guess you should use a binary editor.. _________________ -manoj |

When you downloaded the MQWFCHL.TAB file from AIX be sure that you use BINARY download.
Do not ADD MQClient to your path but REPLACE \MQServer by \MQClient.
When you start the thick client, ensure that you use the correct configurationID.
Re-check your configuration settings (MQ part) to ensure that you have
configured a client connection. FIRST change the path THEN start config utility.
If this doesn't help, use the configuration checker fmczchk.exe and look for any errors. On windows you might also give fmczccd.exe a try. |

Mike:
If I am thinking in a right way I believe this is what you are trying to do.
First thing, from your posting I understand that you have a stand alone setup of Workflow on your local machine. I guess you have already configured that stand alone setup and able to work on that setup properly.
Now you want to connect to Workflow Server which is located on AIX Box, from your local machine.
1) As Venny asked, Which type of configuration do you want to (or can) use from your local machine to Workflow Server on AIX Box? Is it Workflow Client using MQ Client or Workflow Client using MQ Server (Client with Queue Manager Setup)?
2) From your post, I understand (believe) that you want to use the TAB file to connect to WF Server, Which is Workflow Client using MQ Client setup. In this case:
(a) Is MQ Client installed on your local machine?
If not installed already, first install MQ Client on your local machine and create new configuration to connect to WF Server on AIX box.
While doing workflow configuration, and if you have both MQ Client and MQ Server is installed on your machine, you need to change some parameters in your path, to look for right MQ component. Refer to the following post and the procedure from clindsey on how to switch between MQ Client and MQ Server.
http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8345
3) If you want to use a Client with Queue Manager setup, simply create a new configuration (create a new Queue Manager and join this in the cluster of Queuemanager on AIX box).
Hope this helps. _________________ CHF |
