Take a look at mqjmssub.java and mqjmspub.java from:

http://www.developer.ibm.com/tech/sampmq.html

They are some samples that do publish/subscribe. They might help you out. In the header, there is a link:

http://www.developer.ibm.com/tech/faq/individual?oid=2:83352

that gives details on how to run them.

Hi Bower,

Could not find any useful info on creating topic heirarchies.
If you have any other pointers do let me know.

Chapter 11 of the Using Java manual seems reasonably clear about this to me.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the reply. I have tried using the same methodology but when my subscriber tries to subscribe to the topic containing * or anything like that it gives me java naming exception for that topic name.
Also if you check chapter 11 we have a heading saying Using Topics under this heading we have Topic names where IBM talks about creating topic hierarchies but they have provided a note saying
"The JMS specification does not specify exact details about the use and maintenance of topic hierarchies. Therefore, this area can vary from one provider to the next."

I want to understand what character should be used as a separator to create hierarchies.

If you could help me on this would be really thankful to you.

Regards,

Rupesh Gupta

Please don't private message me again.

Using Java, Chapter 11, Section 'Using Topics' wrote:
Different brokers use different wildcard characters and different rules for their substitution. Use the broker version property of the topic (BROKERVER) to define which type of wildcards apply.

It then goes on to explain exactly what wildcard characters correspond to which broker versions.
